THANKS TO THE DADS
Dads rock.
As much as my work is about women and moms and the epic job we do, today I want to recognize the dads.
But first, I don’t know your situation.
I don’t know if you have a dad in your life that supported you growing up as a little girl.
I don’t know if you have someone now who is a father figure to your kids, supporting you in your role as a mom.
So, I recognize that talking about dads causes some of us to feel joy and others of us to feel…not joy.
I think slowing down to acknowledge that there are different reactions is a way to honor our various flavors of emotion.
AND >>>
This post is dedicated to the men who are “in the arena”.
Those who labor hard and who show up.
Those who are humble and funny and encouraging and tough and determined.
Those who ask for help and offer help.
Those who stay up late and get up early.
Those who give hugs and wipe tears and shed tears.
Those who speak difficult emotions and learn new skills and make way too many silly jokes.
Those who explain with patience.
Those who lose their patience and apologize.
Those who get into the trenches and stay until the end.
Those who are living daily as examples of what
strong,
vulnerable,
capable,
loving,
serving,
generous,
tender,
faithful fathers look like for this next generation of young people.
WE HONOR YOU ALL THIS FATHER’S DAY.
For my Dad and my Husband who are all of these things. I love you both!
